GeoMetrix was appointed by Rockliff Pierzchajlo Kroman Architects to undertake the structural design and consulting services for a new 4-storey building in Millwoods (Edmonton, AB). The project consists of approximately 72 lodge residents and 93 independent living apartments along with the necessary support spaces on the main and upper floors, and a partial basement with underground parking.
This project started as a conventional Design-Bid-Build delivery model. However near the end of the Schematic Design Phase the Owner decided to finish the project using an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) model. Several structural framing systems were evaluated during the collaborative validation phase of this IPD project. The final design consisted of a structural steel superstructure on concrete shallow footings. The project was delivered using 3D Revit modeling and BIM.
