NAIT Productivity Center

GeoMetrix was appointed by Kerr Interior Systems to undertake the structural design and construction review services for wind bearing exterior steel stud walls for this new institutional facility at the NAIT campus in Edmonton, AB.  The building was comprised of two wings – a 1 story building with full height steel studs complete with roof parapets; and a second wing comprised of a 4 story structure with infill steel studs including a rooftop mechanical penthouse and roof parapets.  Flexibility of the parapets was considered one of the main design challenges where a series of short buttress walls perpendicular to the parapet at regular intervals was used to improve lateral stiffness.
