In late July 2019, a flood washed out Brady Creek Culvert (BF 77470) and Lily Creek Culvert (BF 77469) on Highway 88 near Slave Lake. GeoMetrix was retained by Alberta Transportation to assess the site conditions and provide engineering recommendations on emergency repairs. Considering site conditions, environmental restrains, constructability and schedule a single span (30 m) NU-girder bridge was recommended for both crossings. The project was divided into two phases to expedite a temporary structure to open the roadway: Phase 1 is to complete girder fabrication, detour construction, headslope shear key construction, debris removal, and channel realignment. Phase 2 is bridge construction planned for summer of 2020.
