GeoMetrix was retained as the prime consultant for the deck rehabilitation of bridge BF 71613 over Bullpound Creek, West of Hanna. The bridge is comprised of three simple spans consisting of Type VS concrete girders. The girders are supported on concrete seats on H-piles at the abutments, and on concrete caps on concrete filled steel pipe piles at the pier locations. The preliminary design phase consisted of a thorough site reconnaissance program including a detailed visual inspection, bridge measurement and hammer soundings. Rehabilitation of the bridge includes: deck replacement with a reinforced concrete deck overlay, girder rehabilitation focusing primarily on the addressing the spalls along the curb girders, modification/replacement of bridge railing and the replacement of the approach guardrail, upgrading of drainage plan and partial depth repairs to concrete substructure at pier locations, and deck testing.
