GeoMetrix was retained by PCL to engineer a unique solution for the railway overpass above Fort Road that would allow for construction without disturbing operations on the adjacent CN railway.
The original bridge design for the Fort Road widening project required construction access that would disturb CN operations and cause the construction sequence to require pauses while trains were moving on the adjacent CN railway. In order to mitigate the impact to the construction schedule, GeoMetrix provided engineering and construction review support for a cast-in-place box culvert bridge system that could be installed and permit the primary work on Fort Road without impacting CN’s operations.
