GeoMetrix was retained by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure (MHI) as the prime consultant for the bridge replacement design of an existing two span timber bridge over the Eagle Creek tributary. The existing timber bridge was both structurally and functionally obsolete and required replacement with a wider structure with a reduced maintenance demand.
GeoMetrix investigated replacing the bridge with a triple barrel culvert or a single span precast concrete box girder bridge. The single span bridge was chosen by the owner and the detailed design of the precast abutment caps, precast backwall panels, and precast wingwall panels were completed. The design of the piles and guardrail was also included within our scope. GeoMetrix also completed the construction drawings and tender documents to Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure standards.
