GeoMetrix was retained by Alberta Transportation as the prime consultant for the deck rehabilitation of bridge BF 02156 over Beaver Hill Creek, just North of Lamont. The bridge is comprised of three simple spans consisting of Type SM concrete girders. The girders are supported on concrete seats on H-piles at the abutments, and on concrete caps on concrete filled steel pipe piles at the pier locations. The preliminary design phase consisted of a thorough site reconnaissance program including a detailed visual inspection, bridge measurement and hammer soundings. Rehabilitation of the bridge included: deck replacement with a reinforced concrete deck overlay, girder rehabilitation focusing primarily on the addressing the spalls along the curb girders, replacement of bridge railing and the approach rail guard, upgrading of drainage plan and partial depth repairs to concrete substructure at pier locations.
