GeoMetrix was retained by Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure (MHI) as the prime consultant for the bridge replacement design of an existing timber bridge structure on Highway 994 over Kinoosao Bay, near Kinoosao, Saskatchewan.
GeoMetrix designed a 9m single span bridge to replace the existing bridge in order to update the structure and provide a larger hydraulic opening. The newly designed superstructure consists of 9m shear connected precast box girders having no wearing surface. GeoMetrix provided the detailed design of the piles in addition to capacity checks on Ministry standard abutment caps, timber backwalls, and precast girders. Tender package preparation including support to the Ministry during the tender period was also provided. GeoMetrix also provided contract administration and field review services during construction. The construction was completed in Spring of 2018.
